a group of friends wnt to the movies. After the movie half of them went to a restaurant of those who did not went to the restaurant half went for a walk and 4 went home. A total of 5 remained and went to play golf. How many went to the movies?
I tried X(.5) = R but I dont know how to express the rest in variables.

A total of 5 remained and went to play golf. How many went to the movies?
:
Let m = total friends
Half of a half is , (those that went for a walk)
:
m = m + m + 4 + 5
m = m + m + 9
multiply both sides by 4
4m = 2m + m + 36
4m - 3m = 36
m = 36 went to the movies
