Three times the number + twice the number
3x + 2x
Thrice the number + 10
3x + 10
3x + 2x = 3x + 10
Collect like terms.
Change signs as you cross equal sign.
3x + 2x - 3x = 10
2x = 10
x= 5
15 + 10 = 15 + 10
