Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x= the number
Now we are told that:
9x+17=-1 subtract 17 from both sides
9x+17-17=-1-17
9x=-18 divide both sides by 9
x=-2
ck
9times-2+17=-1
-18+17=-1
-1=-1
Hope this helps----ptaylor
