Question 652733: how do you solve
-13 is less then -2 + 6M less then or equal to -6

Answer by DrBeeee(684)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given:
(1) -13 < -2+6M <= -6
To solve just do one side at a time. Let's do the left side first,
(2) -13 < -2+6M
Add 2 to each side and get
(3) -13 +2 < -2 +2 + 6M or
(4) -11 < 6M or by dividing by +6 we get
(5) -(11/6) < M
Now do the right side of (1)
(6) -2+6M <= -6
Now add 2 to each side and get
(7) 6M <= -4 or
(8) M <= -(2/3)
The final compound inequality is
(9) -(11/6) < M <= -(2/3)
You can also work directly with (1), in a two stepper
First add 2 to each of the 3 parts and get
(10) -11 < 6M <= -4,
Now divide each term by +6 and get
(11) -(11/6) < M <= -(2/3), voila!
