Hint: Since y = 2x-4, you can replace the y in the first equation with 2x-4

3x-y =7

3x-(y) =7

3x-(y) =7

3x-(2x-4) =7

3x-(2x-4) = 7

I'll let you take it from here.

How to solve the following:
3x-y =7 when y=2x-4
Thank you

3x - y = 7 ----- eq (i)

y = 2x - 4 ----- eq (ii)

3x - (2x - 4) = 7 ---- Substituting 2x - 4 for y in eq (i)

3x - 2x + 4 = 7

x = 7 - 4

y = 2(3) - 4 ----- Substituting 3 for x in eq (ii)

y = 6 - 4
