ratio is 1.5 cm to 50 m
your ratio is:
1.5 / 50 = x / 150
cross multiply to get:
50x = (1.5)(150)
divide both sides by 50 to get:
x = (1.5)(150)/(50) which becomes:
x = 1.5 * 3 which becomes:
x = 4.5
150 meters equals 4.5 centimeters in the model.
you can also look at it as a meters per centimeter type of problem.
if 1.5 centimeters equals 50 meters, then the meters per centimeter equation gives you 50 / 1.5 = 33 and 1/3 meters in real life per 1 centimeter in the model.
since there is 150 meters in real life, then you divide 150 by 33 and 1/3 to get 4.5 which is the number of centimeters in the model.
