Reduce the fraction on the left
+p+%2B+1+=+%283%2F2%29+%2B+3p+-+3+
Combine like terms on the right
+p+%2B+1+=+%28-1%2F2%29+%2B+3p+
subtract p from both sides
+1+=+-1%2F2+%2B+2p+
add 1/2 to both sides
+3%2F2+=+2p+
Divide both sides by 2 ... or multiply by 1/2
