Convert from standard form (Ax+By = C) to slope-intercept form (y = mx+b)
Start with the given equation
Subtract 3x from both sides
Simplify
Divide both sides by -2 to isolate y
Break up the fraction on the right hand side
Reduce and simplify
The original equation (standard form) is equivalent to (slope-intercept form)
The equation is in the form where is the slope and is the y intercept.
Answer by Grinnell(63) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3x-2y=-16
Slope intercept form is y=mx+b
m is the slope y1-y2/x1-x2=m
The y intercept is b, this is where the line crosses y axis, in other words
when x is zero where does the line intersect the y axis? {0,?} (0,8)!!
SO, off to the races...
-2y=-3x-16
y=3/2x+8
(Do you see that the y intercept is 8? Thus part of the
genius of 'slope-intercept' form. The slope is 3/2.)
Over two, and up three....(note the slope is positive!)
Later Gator!! Answer by JBarnum(2146) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! well look at the form y=mx+b
so 3x-2y=-16
-2y=3x-16
