Multiplying by 1 doesn't change anything (it just makes it easier to see what you're doing), so you can rewrite the equation as: -1((-1)(-2)). You always start with the innermost perenthesis and work outward, so (-1)(-2)=2. You can substitute that in for the part you just solved and -1(2)=-2
