x^2=8x
let's factor
the key is remember what x^2 means
x^2=x*x
x*x=8x
divide both sides by x
(x*x)/x=8x/x
x=8
we are done
In a related problem (this is a different problem we already finished the problem)
how would you solve 2x=x+6?
remember that 2x=x+x
so that x+x=x+6
subtract x from both sides
x=6

How would factor
x^2=8x

First of all, since we have an equal sign, this problem goes farther than just factoring. It needs to be solved for x

------- Subtracting 8x from both sides of equation

x(x - 8) = 0 ------- Factoring out GCF, x
