If   +  = -3,  then (square both sides) 

 = 9  ====>

 +  +  = 9  ====>

 +  = 9-2 = 7  ====>

 -  +  = 7 - 2 = 5  ====>

 = 5  ====>   -  = +/- .

 = 0  ====>
