If x+y=12 and x-y=4, what is the value of
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
x + y = 12   (1)
x - y =  4   (2).
Add (1)  and (2). You will get 2x = 16, hence, x = 8.
Then y = 4.
From this point, complete it on your own.
