Question 162244: Sorry, I wasn't quite sure what to put this in.

Given the following equation:
1/x = 1/a + 1/b
Tommy tried to solve this, giving his answer x = a + b.
Prove that this solution can never be correct for x > 0

I've made an attempt at it, i worked on the first equation until i had
x=(ab)/(a+b) Since that value of x is not equal to a + b as Tommy said, my solution says his can't be right. Please tell me if i'm correct and correct me if i'm not :)

Question 160926: Hi, I can't seem to get the answer for this equation: -x-(13+4x)=-3(5-9x)+2
I have tried doing this and I end up getting x=13/18 but the answer is x=0. I know what I am doing wrong has something to do with the negative numbers on the left side of the equal sign but I don't know how or why you do it in that certain way.
