 Question 112596: Hello, I have been working on this problem all day and it seems the more I work on it the more confusing I seem to make it for myself. I over think too much if that is even possible Here is the problem: There are 850 Douglas fir and ponderosa pine trees in a section of forest bought by Sawz Logging Co. The company paid an average of \$300 for each Douglas fir and \$225 for each ponderosa pine. If the company paid \$217,500 for the trees, how many of each kind did the company buy?  Question 112739: Hello, I am hoping with some help on thisequation and what I have so far. Here it is: 2(x-3)-3(x+5)=3(x-2)-7 what I have come up with so far is this: (2x-2*3)-(3x+3*5)=(3*-3*2)-7 with the next step being this: (2x-6)-(3x+15)=(3x-6)-7 Anyways I end up with the final answer being X=-2 for this equation am I right on this one?
