Question 983928: The square of x is equal to 4 times the square of y. If x is 1 more than twice y, what is the value of x?
Is this right?
X^2=4y^2
X=2y+1
(2y+1)^2=(2y)^2
2y+1=2y
Why can't I take a square root of both side at this point?
The correct answer is 1/2.
Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!
