Question 970911: -1[(3000)(0.473)(x-250)]=(4000)(4.184)(x-22.7)
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The left side, after being multiplied by minus 1, is
-(1419) (x-250) becomes -1419 x + 354750= 16736 x - 379907.2 (see below for the right side of the equation).
The right side was 16736 (x-22.7)
Add 1419 x to both sides
Add 379907.2 to both sides
18155x = 734657.2
divide by 18155
x=40.4658
Check
-1 * {3000*0.473*(-209.5342)= +297329.03
4000*4.184*17.7658=297328.43
If this is performed with two decimal places, there is about a 400 difference between the two.
