Question 9601: I understand this equation in that everything I do to one side I have to do to the other. I am horrible at fractions and stump myself. Please help me solve this equation. 180=1/3x+x+1/3x+10 Thank You
Answer by askmemath(368)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
180=1/3x+x+1/3x+10
Taking the question as it is, it becomes quite complicated or even impossible.
Therefore I assumed that the x is in the numerator . In which case you should have written the problems as (1/3)X
170 = 2x/3 + X Subtracting 10 from both sides and adding the two (1/3)x
170(3) = 2x+3x Taking the LCM and cross-multiplying
510 = 5x
or x = 102 Dividing by 5 throughout
