start with 2-x+y = 3-y+x
add y to both sides of the equation to get:
2-x+2y = 3+x
add x to both sides of the equation to get:
2+2y = 3+2x
subtract 2 from both sides of the equation to get:
2y = 1+2x
divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get:
y = 1/2 + x
rearrange the terms to get:
y = x + 1/2
your original equation of 2 - x + y = 3 - y + x is true when y = x + 1/2.
for example:
let x = 2 and y = 2.5
2 - x + y becomes 2 - 2 + 2.5 which becomes 2.5.
3 - 2.5 + 2 becomes 5 - 2.5 which becomes 2.5.
your original equation of 2-x+y = 3-y+x is true when y = x + 1/2.
