we are given
The number of silver medals was the same as the number of bronze medals.
let x be the number of silver medals and x is also the number of bronze medals.
The number of gold medals was 17 more than the number of silver medals,
let x+17 be the number of gold medals, then
x +x +x+17 = 104
3x +17 = 104
3x = 87
x = 29
therefore there are
29 bronze medals, 29 silver medals, 46 gold medals
