Distribute the -5 factor to get:

2x + x/4 -10 = 29
----
Combine similar terms to get:
(9/4)x = 39
---------------
Multiply both sides by 4/9 to get::
x = (9/4)39
-----
x = 351/4
-----
x = 87 3/4
------------------
