Question 909591: Solve two-step equations.
-4= a+5/-3
When I initially first tried the problem I subtracted 5 from each side to get -9=a/-3. I then multiplied -3 to both sides and got the final answer of a=27. The only problem is that my teacher marked it wrong. So, now I have no idea how to answer the problem.

Assuming the question -4=
Get ride of the pesky fraction by multiplying each side by -3
12 = A + 5
Subtract 5 from each side
7 = A
Check:
-4=
-4 =
-4 = -4
