8x-6<7x+12 she wants to explain and solve

Treat the inequality as if it was an equation.
How would you solve
8x - 6 = 7x + 12 ?
add 6 to both sides
8x = 7x + 18
subtract 7x
x = 18
------------------------
8x-6 < 7x + 12 would be solved the same way
and you would get x < 18.
