Question 880450: I don't understand how to find t.
9(t *16)/5 = 144
I have seen the asnwer but am really struggling to get my head around this one.
I see it as Open brackets *9
9t*144/5 =144
*5 /5 to cancel it out and *5 144.
9t*144 = 720
The working out I have seen for this doesn't multiply the t by 9 yet I thought you had to, to expand the bracket?

Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9(t *16)/5 = 144
9*16=144
144t/5=144
t/5=1
t=5
Your mistake:
9(t *16)/5 = 144
9t*144/5 =144
should be
t*144/5 =144
Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9(16t)/5 = 144
9(16t) = 5(144)
144t = 5(144)
t = 5
Agree...a good thing to keep things 'intact'
