Question 86650: If a < b, then -a > -b Why?

Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if some quantity (a) is less than another quantity (b); then if they both are negated, the -a is "less negative" (or greater than) -b

3<7 ... -3>-7 ... or -6<5 ... 6>-5

the "mechanics" of it -- if you multiply or divide an inequality by a NEGATIVE value, it reverses the direction of the inequality
