Hi,

2(n-8)= 4n

 2n - 16 = 4n

     -16 = 2n     

      -8 = n

 I think of a number, subtract 8 and double the result. The answer is 4 times more than the original number 

Let the number be "x":

2(x-8) = 4x

2x-16 = 4x

2x = -16

x = -8
