Question 849364: 5(x+1)-4(x+2)=-8
Any chance you could help me here Please show steps of working out for me.

Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Wherever you have parentheses, always do
the work inside the parentheses first.
-------------------------------------
If you have parentheses within parentheses,
work from the inside out.
-------------------------------------

There is nothing to do inside these parentheses
since they are in the simplest form possible.
---------------------------------------
Use the distributive law to get rid of the parentheses

Combine like terms. x's with x's and constants with constants

Add to both sides

----------------------
To check the answer, plug it back into original equation

As I said, work inside the parentheses first

Note that a minus times a minus is a plus

OK
