Question 8419: 5x+8=4x+2
3x-(-2x+6)=4(x-4)+x

Answer by bonster(299)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x+8=4x+2 <--subtract 4x from both sids
(5x+8)-4x=(4x+2)-4x
x+8=2 <--subtract 8 from both sides
(x+8)-8=2-8
x=-6

3x-(-2x+6)=4(x-4)+x
3x+2x-6=4x-16+x
5x-6=3x-16 <--subtract 3x from both sides
(5x-6)-3x=(3x-16)-3x
2x-6=-16 <--add 6 to both sides
(2x-6)+6=(-16)+6
2x=-10 <--divide both sides by 2
=
x=-5
