Question 826677: I am trying to help my daughter with her homework. She has equations to do but I don't understand them. The problems are: 7m +6 divided by -3 = 5, y + 10 divided by -2 = 5, 2m - 5 (3m + 4) = -59 and 8y - 3 + 12 - 3y = 10. I would appreciate any help you can give us. Thanks.

7m +6 divided by -3 = 5
If you mean
(7m + 6)/-3 = 5
Multiply by -3
7m + 6 = -15
Subtract 6
7m = -21
Divide by 7
m = -3

y + 10 divided by -2 = 5
Similar to the 1st one.

2m - 5 (3m + 4) = -59
2m - 15m - 20 = -59
-13m - 20 = -59
Add 20
-13m = -39
m = 3
--------------
8y - 3 + 12 - 3y = 10
5y + 9 = 10
5y = 1
y = 1/5
