The numerator of a fraction is 5 less than 3 times its denominator.
If 2 and 4 are added to the numerator and denominator respectively the new fraction is equivalent to 5/6.
=
cross multiply
6(n+2) = 5(d+4)
6n + 12 = 5d + 20
6n = 5d + 20 - 12
6n = 5d + 8
It says,"The numerator of a fraction is 5 less than 3 times its denominator. "
I can't get it to work in this statement, Find the integer solution using
n =
let d = 2
n =
n = 3
Original fraction
