Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Barry can do a certain job in 6 hours, whereas it takes Samuel 9 hours to do the same job. How long would it take them to do the job working together?
--------
Barry rate:: 1/6 job/hour
Sam rate:::: 1/9 job/hour
Together rate: 1/x job/hour
--------
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
1/6 + 1/9 = 1/x
9x + 6x = 54
15x = 54
x = 3.6 hours = 3hrs 36 minutes
