I assume you want to solve for p.
Subtract 6p from both sides
6p - 6p - 5 = 9p - 6p - 20
-5 = 3p - 20
Add 20 to both sides
20 - 5 = 3p - 20 + 20 = 3p
3p = 15
p = 15/3 = 5
