we will use the quadratic formula to solve this equation
x = (-2 + or - sqrt(4 - 4 * 3 * -4)) / 6
x = (-2 + or - sqrt(52)) /6
x = (-2 + 7.2) / 6 = .87
x = (-2 - 7.2) / 6 = -1.53
