Solve the system of equations by using the addition method:
4x + 3y = - 5
Solve the system of equations by using the addition method:
4x + 3y = - 5
-4x - 10y = 26
just add like-terms of both equations, cancelling out the x-terms:
-7y=21
y=-3
plug y back in to the first equation to solve for x
4x+3*-3=-5
4x-9=-5
4x=4
x=1
check:
4x+3y=4*1+3*-3=4-9=-5
-4x - 10y =-4+30=26
