Question 739706: solve using the substitution method
p+5q-8=0
5p-q-2+0

Answer by checkley79(3341)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
p+5q-8=0 OR p=8-5q
5p-q-2+0
5(8-5q)-q-2=0
40-25q-q-2=0
-26q=-40+2
-26q=-38
q=-38/-26
q=19/13 ans.
p=8-5(19/13)
p=8-95/13
p=(8*13-95)/13
p=(104-95)/13
p=9/13 ans.
Proof:
5*9/13-19/13-2=0
45/13-19/13-2=0
26/13-2=0
2-2=0
0=0
