Question 726350: Two men start from points 176 miles apart and travel toward each other until they meet. Find the rate of each if one travels two miles an hour faster than the other and they meet in 8 hours.
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let speed of one be x
other's speed = x+2
they are moving towards each other so add their speeds
x+x+2=2x+2 mph
distance = 176
time = 8
speed = distance/time
2x+2=176/8
2x+2=22
2x=20
x=10
10 mph & 12 mph are the speeds
