In this case x can equal anything, lets see why.
Subtract x from both sides, this gets x on one side
The x's cancel on both sides, so there is no x anymore.
Since these 2 are equal, the equality is true.
So it really doesn't matter what x is, it will cancel with the other x, and the equation will still be true. To show this, lets let x=5
Try x=13
The equality is still true.
