Since the product is negative, one of the numbers must be negative and the other positive. Since the sum is negative, the number that is negative must have a larger absolute value than the one that is positive.
Write out the two number factors of 24. 1 times 24, 2 times 12...and so on. Find a pair that differs by 5 and put a minus sign in front of the larger one of the pair.
