Question 714996: solve for x: 4x/3+5=4

The goal of this puzzle is to get x by itself on one side of the equal sign. So the first move is usually the easiest so let's get the 5 to the other side. To do that we subtract 5 from both sides. So a positive 4 minus 5 equaled a negative 1. Now to get rid of the fraction we need to multiply both sides of the equal sign by the denominator to cancel out the fraction. So multiply both sides by 3. Now you know any number divided by 1 is itself so now there is no fraction. Now to get x by itself all u need to do is divide by 4. X equals a negative three fourths.
Below is the same in algebra form. Hope this helps.
4x/3+5=4
4x/3=-1
4x/1=-3
4x=-3
x=-3/4
