Question 704235: I need to know what i'm doing wrong. in the problem: y/2y-5=5/y i multiplied the denominator on the right hand side by 2y-5 and the numerator by that so i can cancel out. but now im stuck and dont know how to proceed.
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Cross multiply
y*y = 5(2y-5)
y^2 = 10y - 25
Arrange as a quadratic equation on the left
y^2 - 10y + 25 = 0
Factors to
(y-5)(y-5) = 0
solution
y = 5

Confirm this in the original equation, replace y with 5
