It's a lot easier if you get rid of the denominators, multiply equation by a value which will accomplish this:
:
38.
1/4(t+10) = 5
:
multiply equation by 4 and you have:
1(t+10) = 4(5)
t + 10 = 20
t = 20 - 10
t = +10
:
Check in original equation:
1/4(10+10) = 5
:
:
#18
2/3(x+8) = 8
:
Multiply equation by 3 and you have:
2(x + 8) = 3(8)
:
2x + 16 = 24
2x = 24 - 16
2x = 8
x = 8/2
x = 4
:
Check in original equation:
2/3(4+8) = 8
