Question 70115: 5m+9=3(m-5)+7
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20054)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5m + 9 = 3(m - 5) + 7

Remove the parentheses on the right side

5m + 9 = 3m - 15 + 7

5m + 9 = 3m - 8

Add -3m to both sides

 5m + 9 =  3m - 8
-3m       -3m
-----------------
 2m + 9 =      -8

Now add -9 to both sides

 2m + 9 =  -8
     -9    -9
--------------
 2m     = -17

Now divide both sides by 2
