Question 695885: are3 the lines 3x-6=18 and y=-2x+7 parallel, perpendicular, or oblique (neither)?
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve 3x-6=18 for x
3x = 18 + 6
3x = 24
x = 8, which is a vertical line through x = 8
Vertical lines have an undefined slope.
For the other line to be parallel, it too must have an undefined slope.
For the other line to be perpendicular it must have a slope of 0
...
y=-2x+7 has a slope of -2
...
Therefore, the two lines are oblique.
