Question 679999: 4(x-2)=9(x+3)
3(r+1)=5(r-3)+8

Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(x-2)=9(x+3)
...
Distribute the 4 and 9
4x + 4(-2) = 9x + 9(3)
4x - 8 = 9x + 27
Group the x variable to one side of the equation
-8 - 27 = 9x - 4x
-35 = 5x
Divide both sides by 5

...
3(r+1)=5(r-3)+8
Distribute the 3 and 5
3r + 3 = 5r - 15 + 8
Group the x variable to one side of the equation
3 + 15 - 8 = 5r - 3r
10 = 2r
Divide both sides by 2
