Mr. Fox and Mr. Ox are running to the other endof the football field. It takes Mr. Ox 2 seconds to run 10 yards ad Mr. Fox 5 second to run 10 yards. Mr. Fox had a 20 yard head start. How long does it take Mr. Ox to catch Mr. Fox?

Mr. Fox and Mr. Ox are running to the other end of the football field.
It takes Mr. Ox 2 seconds to run 10 yards
ad Mr. Fox 5 second to run 10 yards.
Mr. Fox had a 20 yard head start.
How long does it take Mr. Ox to catch Mr. Fox?
:
Find O's speed: 10/2 = 5 yds/sec
Find F's speed: 10/5 = 2 yds/sec

Let t = time for O to catch F (in seconds)
:
Write a distance equation; dist = speed * time
:
O's dist = F's dist + 20 yds
5t = 2t + 20
5t - 2t = 20
3t = 20
t = 20/3 sec, about 6.67 seconds

Check this, how many yards each ran
6.67 * 5 = 33.3 yds; O's run
