Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
<=======(-5)-----------(-1)===========>
Think as a parabola: y = a|x - h| + k
where (-5,0) and (-1,0) are points on the x-axis
vertex: (-3,y0)
y = a|x + 3| + y0 ... define a = 1 to delete the x-tra variable
0 = |-5 + 3| + y0
-y0 = 2
y0 = -2
vertex (-3,-2)
y = |x + 3| - 2
and
