Question 666515: a chemist needs 150 mm of a 38% solution but has only 22% and 82% solutions available. Find how many mm of each that should be mixed to get the desired solution.
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
percent ---------------- quantity
Solution I 22 ---------------- x ml
Solution II 82 ------ 150 - x ml
Mixture 30 ---------------- 150
22x+82(150-x)=30*150
2200x+8200(150- x)= 450000
2200x+1230000- 8200x= 450000
2200x-8200x= 450000 -1230000
-6000 x = -780000
/ -6000
x = 130 ml 22.00% Solution I
20 ml 82.00% Solution II
