Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Starting with
2x + 4(x-6) = 3x + 9
Distribute the 4
2x + 4x - 24 = 3x + 9
Combine like terms
6x - 24 = 3x + 9
6x - 24 + 24 - 3x = 3x - 3x + 9 + 24
3x = 33
3x/3 = 33/3
x = 11
