Solve for x:
Subtract the two fractions on the left side using the LCD of 6.
Simplify.

Multiply both sides by 6 and simplify.
Subtract 10 from both sides.
Divide both sides by 2.

Check: Substitute x = 4 into the original equation.

Check is ok!

Probably just a mistake in arithmetic
(x+1)/2-(x-7)/6=3 First, Lets multiply both sides by 6 and we get:
3(x+1)-(x-7)=18 or
3x+3-x+7=18 and
2x=18-7-3
2x=8
x=4
Hope this helps. Have a nice holiday season.---ptaylor
