First lets convert the equation to the form of ax^2+bx+c=0. So the equation now becomes x^2+6x+8=0. Now if we factor, we get (x+4)(x+2)=0 (see for yourself). So means that x+4=0 or x+2=0. If x+4=0, then x=-4. If x+2=0, then x=-2. So x is -4 or-2.
