1. Find the slope-intercept form of the the line passing through the point (�3,�6) and parallel to the line y = -3x-4
2. Write the standard form of the equation of the line passing through the point (�1, 2) and perpendicular to the line x - 7y = � 21.
ans 1:
the line is parallel to the line y = -3x-4 with slope =-3
so the required slope of the line=-3
& passes through (�3,�6)
so the eqn is [y-(-6)]/[x-(-3)]=-3
or y+6=-3x-9
or y=-3x-15 ans
ans 2:
the line is perpendicular to the line x - 7y = � 21 or y=x/7+3 with slope =1/7
so the required slope of the line=-7
& passes through (�1, 2)
so the eqn is [y-2]/[x-(-1)]=-7
or y-2=-7x-7
or y=-7x-5 ans
